I recently traveled to Budapest and we ate at a Turkish restaurant there. It was delicious! Alongside the hummus dishes they offered something named Muhammara. It was a red pepper walnut dip that tasted divine. I took a picture of what it was there and came home and researched and created a recipe that I liked that was also, gf, df and egg-free. I hope you enjoy!
This easy vegan, gf recipe is a great exchange if you are getting tired of hummus or just want something a little different.
3 red bell peppers-halved and seeds removed
1/2c walnuts
1 tsp lime or lemon juice
1 tsp chopped garlic
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sumac
1/4 tsp cayenne
1/4 c. gf panko bread crumbs
1 Tbs olive oil
Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Place sliced bell peppers down with the skin facing up on a pan with aluminum foil. Cook for 20-30 min. Check to see if the skin is turning black. Remove from oven and place in bowl. Cover bowl to let peppers steam. After 15 minutes, remove cover and peel peppers. Place peppers in
or food processor. Add all other ingredients and blend at a low speed. Remove and serve with fresh pita, crackers or veggies.
